I started my new role as CEO of the Stroke Association in early April 2004. It is a privilege to be playing a leading role in an organisation which does so much exceptional work to aid the prevention and treatment of strokes, and their consequences on people and their families. At the time of writing we have just completed work on our strategy for growth for the next 5 years. Stroke is the third biggest killer in the UK, and the primary cause of severe disability, and every 5 minutes someone in the UK has a stroke. Over the years colleagues and I  at RNIB investigated and generated a body of ideas and knowledge in three main areas, and this web site makes available some of the speeches, articles, reports and musings since 1990 listed under three main headings,

1. Reflections on the UK Third/Voluntary sector and future strategies for agencies and organisations.

2. Thoughts on the application of the conceptual frameworks of Servant leadership, the learning organisation, and knowledge management.

3. The development of new service frameworks and streams for supporting Blind and Partially Sighted people

By grouping this material in one place the coherence of approach becomes more apparent, and becomes accessible to a much wider audience than just those who have been in the audience, or been a reader of the original speech or writings.
